Employment Training and Housing
AAN's Employment and Training referrals assist newly arrived Africans in better understanding the complexities of American culture and referring them to partner organizations such as Upwardly Global, Laney College, English Center and Jewish Vocational Services (JVS). AAN provides referrals regarding the following: - Employment assistance - Resume building - Job search assistance - Job skills training - Referrals to affordable housing - Referrals to shelters
Outreach and Education
AAN actively holds educational workshops on issues of importance for our clients and community members in San Francisco, Marin, the East Bay, South Bay and the Greater Bay Areas. Topics include but not limited to: - Know Your Rights Training - Family Reunification - Anti-Fraud - Language Access Rights - Immigration benefits including (AB 60, TPS, Naturalization, Asylum)
Arts & Culture Integration
AAN partners with artists to celebrate African and Afro-Caribbean arts and provide a platform for artists to showcase their talents and further their profession. In doing so with the aim being to build community links and promote this rich and vibrant culture throughout the wider Bay Area.
Translation & Interpretation
AAN staff and volunteers provide translation services for official government documents, affidavits, birth certificates, marriage certificates school transcripts and any other documents required for immigration and non-immigration processing. AAN also provides interpretation services at the asylum office, doctors offices, and any private and public meetings throughout the Bay Area.
Immigration Legal Services
AAN offers immigration legal services for African and Afro-Caribbean immigrants working towards securing a legal status in the United States. With two attorneys and four DOJ Accredited Representatives on staff, AAN provides the following immigration services: Representation in detained and non-detained matters before the San Francisco Immigration Court, Bond hearings, Parole requests, Representation in affirmative asylum filings before the San Francisco Asylum office, Adjustment of status applications, Family-based petitions, Consular Processing, VAWA applications, U-visa applications, Citizenship & naturalization applications, Work Permits, and Temporary protected status applications. AAN is a proud member of many city-wide collaboratives, oftentimes being the only organization focused exclusively on assisting African Immigrants. AAN is a member of the following collaboratives: San Francisco Immigrant Legal Education Network (SFILEN) San Francisco Immigrant Legal Defense Collaborative (SFILDC) San Francisco Language Access Network (SFLAN)
